In a Sea of Ballet
I have long admired ballet. There is a delicate beauty to the movements of those who commit to standing on the very points of their shoes. See, I quit this form of art at the ripe old age of six. Before class would begin every week, I would wait outside of the room while a young girl not much older than myself, took private lessons. As I peered into the window, watching her flexibility and candor, I knew in my heart then, that I would never be a ballerina.
Ever since that fateful day in which I made the decision to quit while ahead, I have admired the art form from the sidelines. It is thereby with great pleasure, that I had the opportunity to work with a ballerina in New York City this past week. It was such a joy to shoot this series of photographs and combine my love of ballet and photography into one.
