One Door Away From The 60's
Updated: Aug 9, 2019
Cities change, people relocate, and buildings get torn down. Luckily for us New Yorkers, we still have a few places left that bring us back. One of said locations, is the "new" old TWA terminal at JFK airport. If you are a fan of the 60's, of MOD furniture and getting dressed up to fly high in the sky, this is a place not be missed!
In mid-May, the rooftop bar at the new TWA hotel opened for business. While the rooftop is something to be experienced in all its airplane watching, sunset gazing goodness, it is by far not the main attraction.
The true heart of the terminal, is actually the terminal itself. One does not have to wonder what it would have felt like to arrive all dolled up in a pillbox hat holding a leather green hatbox and hard shelled luggage. From period dressed employees to a Jean Georges restaurant, MOD furniture and all, the entire terminal is like traveling back in time.
As a child that grew up on Brady Bunch reruns, listening to 60's pop music, I have always felt a very deep connection to the era. Therefore, this photo shoot was a dream come true for me. I had the opportunity to work with a great team on this shoot, including a model and makeup-artist. Finding the perfect wardrobe (authentic vintage 60's dress, shoes and hatbox) was an integral part of the process as well, and I spent arduous amounts of time in order to secure the attire that would match the intended look of the shoot.
I have added some of my favorites below.
I hope that you enjoy looking at them as much as I do!
